Famous Riviera Sign from Las Vegas Strip Goes Up in AC
July 2, 2015
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ - The iconic Riviera sign that was once a staple on the Las Vegas strip now has a new home at The Playground - marking the opening of the outdoor beer garden just in time for the July 4th weekend. When the Riviera Hotel and Casino closed its doors in Las Vegas on May 4, six-decades worth of memorabilia, signage, and furniture remained inside. Paul Steelman and his team at Steelman Partners, who have partnered with Tower Investment’s CEO and developer Bart Blatstein for The Playground project, were among the first inside the now-closed casino and gathered up enough history to fill five tractor trailers.

Stage equipment, lighting, chairs, tables, dishes, and even the epic red Riviera sign have been incorporated into The Playground in Atlantic City. The outdoor beer garden, located behind 39 N, on the first floor of The Playground has been named Riviera in honor of the now closed hotel and its historic sign. Guests can enjoy warm sunshine and salty breezes while sitting above the ocean on the 1,350 square foot deck. The Riviera will open to the public starting Thursday, July 2 and will be open daily from 11-2 am.

(Note the beer garden will be closed Friday for a private party but reopens July 4 for the spectacular views of fireworks).
