Steel Pier Renovation

Atlantic City, New Jersey - One of the Atlantic City Boardwalk's most historic piers, the Steel Pier, will be receiving a $100 million makeover and expansion over the next few years, according to Press of Atlantic City. The past few years, the pier has struggled for survival, so the Catanoso family and Paul Steelman, a Las Vegas architect, bought it and the skybridge above the Boardwalk for $4.25 million last year.

Anthony Catanoso told Press of Atlantic City "We hope to make it a showplace again. We want to make it a major destination." Plans are to resurrect some of the older architecture and rides, iconic pier features, and to bring in new rides, mixing the old with the new. They will also be bringing back the diving horse act, in which a horse will plunge into a 12-foot take from a height of 30-40 feet.
